On  23 November 2023, IRSEM had the pleasure to receive the visit from  Matti Pesu, a think tanker working on the Euro-Atlantic security architecture of Finland at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs based in Helsinki (FIIA). Mr. Pesu, as a participant to the PIPA programme (Programme d’invitation des personnalités d’avenir) organized by the Quai d’Orsay, took the opportunity of his stay in Paris to have an in-depth exchange with the IRSEM researchers on several key issues including space activities, the repositioning of Finland after the NATO membership, the Arctic issues, and societal resilience.

The expertise of Dr. Béatrice Hainaut specializing in space activities,  on the one hand,  and of Mrs. Eveline Mathey who hold various positions in French ministries but also in NATO as administrator, on the other hand, contributed to fueling the debates and stimulating the exchanges of views with Matti Pesu.

Last year, IRSEM welcomed a Finnish delegation composed of representatives of the Finnish Defence Command and  of the Finnish National Defence University.

These ongoing interactions with various Finnish counterparts help the institute to promote shared knowledge –a primary goal of our institutional policy.
