Biographie

Florian Opillard is a geographer, Research Fellow at IRSEM within the “Defense and Society” team, and an associate researcher at the Sciences Po Crisis Lab. A certified geography teacher (agrégé) and a PhD graduate of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (2018), he was also a visiting doctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (United States). His doctoral research examined the spatial dimension of urban conflicts. His current work focuses on political geography and military sociology. He teaches at the École Normale Supérieure (Ulm) and Sciences Po Paris, and is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Carnets de géographes, as well as co-coordinator of a section of the Atlas social de la France.
