Biographie
Florian Opillard est géographe, chercheur à l’IRSEM au sein du domaine « Défense et société » et chercheur associé au Centre de Recherches et de Documentations sur les Amériques (IHEAL-CREDA). Agrégé de géographie et docteur de l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (2018), il a été doctorant invité à l’Université de Berkeley (Etats-Unis). Ses recherches de thèse interrogeaient la dimension spatiale des conflits urbains et l’économie politique de la production urbaine contemporaine, ainsi que les processus de politisation du quotidien. Dans le cadre de ses recherches doctorales, il a réalisé une enquête comparative de plusieurs mois aux Etats-Unis (San Francisco) et au Chili (Valparaiso) auprès d’organisations prenant part aux luttes contre les processus de gentrification.
Ses recherches actuelles analysent la production du discours sur l’adaptation des armées au changement climatique, la transformation des systèmes de valeurs et les formes d’engagement des militaires.
Il est actuellement coordinateur scientifique du projet ANR "ARMY" (CEVIPOF/IRSEM) qui analyse les mobilisations militaires dans la crise sanitaire de la crise de la COVID-19 en Europe et aux États-Unis :

Florian Opillard is a geographer, researcher at IRSEM in the "Defense and Society" team and associate researcher at the Center for Research and Documentation on the Americas (IHEAL-CREDA). He holds an Agrégation in geography and a PhD from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (2018), and was a visiting doctoral student at the University of Berkeley (USA). His doctoral research questioned the spatial dimension of urban conflicts and the political economy of contemporary urban production, as well as the processes of politicization of everyday life. As part of his doctoral research, he conducted a comparative investigation of several months in the United States (San Francisco) and Chile (Valparaiso) with organizations involved in the struggles against gentrification processes.
His current research analyzes the production of discourse on the adaptation of armies to climate change, the transformation of value systems and the forms of engagement of the military.
He is currently the scientific coordinator of the ANR project "ARMY" (CEVIPOF/IRSEM) which analyzes military mobilizations in the health crisis of the COVID-19 in Europe and the United States:
