Biographie
Matteo Mazziotti di Celso holds a PhD in Strategic Studies from the University of Genoa. Prior to pursuing an academic career, he served for nine years in the Italian Army, in the Engineer Corps, reaching the rank of Captain.
His research focuses on civil–military relations in Italy. His doctoral dissertation, which investigated why Italian governments have repeatedly relied on the armed forces for domestic policing tasks, was published by Routledge under the title Military Policing in Advanced Democracies: Italy in Comparative Perspective.
He collaborates closely with several Italian military institutions, including the Centro di Studi Militari Marittimi, where he is a Visiting Research Fellow, and the Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa, for which he has carried out teaching activities. He also works with international institutions such as the NATO Defence College, where he is a Junior Associate Fellow
